The best museums in Sofia, Bulgaria

National Museum of Natural History
If you want to see some fossils or animals, the National Museum of Natural History is the place to be
Address: bul. "Tsar Osvoboditel" 1, Sofia
Working hours: Scientific departments: Mon - Fri, 8:30 AM to 5 PM; Exhibitions are open from Mon to Sun, 10 AM to 6 PM 
Entrance fee: adults must pay 4 BGN, students - 2 BGN, people with disabilities - 1 BGN
Guided tour: only upon request (call +359 879226573), it costs 40 BGN
How to go? The museum is located in the city centre. It is close to subway station "Serdika" and "Sofia University". Also, bus № 9, 94, 280, 306 (again Sofia University station), trolley № 9 (St. Alexander Nevski Square station), trolley № 1, 2, 4, 11 (Sofia University station), tram № 20 and 22 (National Opera station).


National History Museum
If you are interested in archeology and history, go for the National History Museum.
Address: Vitoshko lale 16 str., Sofia 
Working hours: in summer (April - October, Mon - Sun) 9:30 AM to 6 PM holidays; in winter (November to MarchMon - Sun) 9 AM to 5:30 PM
How to go? The best way is to catch a bus № 111 or 63 (National History Museum station)
Entrance fee: adults - 10 BGN, students - 1 BGN
Guided tours in different languages: only by request and 2 weeks in advance (send the request to ekskurzovodinim@abv.bg), it costs 30 BGN.

Sofia History Museum
Located in the city centre, Sofia History Museum is a must-visit and perfect for people interested in history.
Address: 1 Banski Sq, Sofia
Working hours:10 AM to 6 PM, Tue - Sun
How to go? The best way to reach the museum is by subway - get off at Serdika Metro station. Go direction Banya Bashi Mosque - the museum is behind it.
Entrance fee: adults - 6 BGN, students - 2 BGN
Guided tour in English: 40 BGN

Muzeiko
The museum is one of the best ones in Bulgaria - it is interactive and perfect for children (but adults also find it very interesting!). There are many games and items that allow you to experience nature, science, history and even all planets!
Address: Prof. Boyan Kamenov Str. 3, Sofia
Working hours: 
Tue – Sun, 10 AM to 6 PM
How to go? 
The subway station "G.M. Dimitrov" is close to the museum. Also, you can catch a bus to "MGU Sveti Ivan Rilski" station (№ 123, 69, 70, 88, 676, 413) or to "Oncology Hospital" (№ 88, 280, 294)
Entrance fee: 
children - 6 or 7 BGN, depending on the age; students - 7 BGN, adults - 10 BGN

National Polytechnic Museum
If technology is your passion (not iPhones, though), visit the National Polytechnic Museum in Sofia and explore everything created by our ancestors. 
Address: Opalchenska str. 66, Sofia
Working hours: 9 AM to 5 PM, Mon - Sun. 
How to go? The museum is 15 min away from Mall of Sofia. The best way to reach it is by subway - get off at Opalchenska station. 
Entrance fee: adults must pay 5 BGN, students - 2 BGN. The entrance fee on Monday is free of charge.
Guided tours in English: 25 BGN


National Museum of Military History
If learning more about the wars and taking a picture with some military equipment sounds fun for you, don't miss the National Museum of Miliary History.
Address: 92 Cherkovna Str. 92, Sofia
Working hours: Wed - Sun, 10 AM to 6 PM
How to go? Bus № 72 (Cherkovka station) or bus № 9, 305, 413 as well as tram № 20 and 23. The station is called "31 SUCHEM".
Entrance fee: adults must pay 8 BGN, students - 2 BGN. The entrance fee on the last Wednesday of each month is free of charge.
Guided tour in Englsh: 40 BGN
