People who study at the American University in Bulgaria must live in the university campus. There are three residence halls at the American University in Bulgaria. They are called Skaptopara I, II, and III. They include aerobic rooms, music practice rooms, cafes and other public spaces where you can enjoy your free time.

Where is the American University in Bulgaria located?

The American University in Bulgaria is located in the western part of Bulgaria in the city of Blagoevgrad. Close to the border of Macedonia and Greece but also approximately 100 km away from Sofia, the location of the city and the university present a perfect opportunity if you wish to travel, explore Bulgaria and its neighbouring countries but also meet many other students (as there is another big university in Blagoevgrad). The city is famous for being a "students city" so there are many cafes, restaurants and clubs. In addition, the city is not very big so you will be able to ride a bike or simply enjoy a walk in the city centre that is walking distance away from the university.

Close to Blagoevgrad you can go skiing (in the ski resort Bansko), go hiking (in Pirin or Rila mountains) as well as explore one of the most scenic places in Bulgaria - Melnik. It is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites because of its typical Bulgarian architecture and wonderful sand pyramids.
