Medical students from Plovdiv Medical University must pay 8000 Euro per academic year. Applying for both student loans and scholarships is possible at Plovdiv Medical University. Plovdiv Medical University is located in the second biggest city in Bulgaria - Plovdiv. Pleven Medical University is also a famous place among foreign citizens who wish to study Medicine in Bulgaria. There they also graduate within six years and obtain a Master's degree in Medical Science. Students must pay 7500 Euro per academic year. Pleven Medical University is located in Pleven - a city around 200 km away from Sofia. People who study at Pleven Medical University usually travel to Sofia or Bucharest if they want to catch a flight back home. Also, the academic year at Pleven Medical University starts in February - hence, if you do not wish to start your studies right after summer, we recommend Pleven Medical University.

Medicine at Trakia University

Trakia University is located in Stara Zagora - the cheapest place to study Medicine in Bulgaria. The tuition fees are again 7000 Euro / academic year and medical students graduate with a Master's degree.

Medicine at Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski

What are the entry requirements for studying Medicine in Bulgaria?

Starting from 2017, Bulgarian medical universities have introduced an admission test in Biology and Chemistry. In addition, admission to some medical schools in Bulgaria requires applicants to sit a test in English in order to prove advanced English skills. As all lectures will be in English, these skills are highly necessary. In comparison, other medical universities in Bulgaria accept English certificates, e.g. TOEFL and IELTS.

Furthermore, applicants are required to have grades in Biology and Chemistry in their high-school diploma. The grades must be above 62 percent. To sum up, the entry requirements of Bulgarian medical universities are lower in comparison to the requirements in other countries.
